Different
Strokes
Have you ever noticed how different
dogs are from each other? Not only are they different in their
physical apppearance, but in their interests and activity level.
If you are an attentive pet owner, please take note of these
interests and use them!
By that, I mean, to use them as part of what you and your dog do
together. Does he bolt out of the house and keep on going? Maybe
he should be jogging by your side. Does he love Frisbee and fetch?
He could be a competition dog or in a fly ball tournament. Is he
a natural born herder? Check out the sheep farms nearby for some
much needed interaction. You say your dog is overly interested
in sniffing everything? How about training for search and rescue.
Does your dog love kids and crowds? How about companion dog training
to visit nursing homes and hospitals. Does your dog treat your
furniture like a jungle gym? How about an agility course.
Homing in on your dog's talent and working with his natural instincts can create
a wonderful pastime for you both. He will no longer be frustrated and scolded
but be gently guided to use his abilities in a constructive way...after all,
he only wants to Please You!
I hope to see all our very talented dogs and owners right here in Gulfport becoming
all that they can be...TOGETHER...
